Salaryon gives you tools and general information to understand your finances. It is not financial, tax or investment advice. Figures are estimates. Please read our Disclaimer, which forms part of these Terms.
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Gritain Limited ("Gritain", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16233744, registered office 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. Salaryon is a trading name of Gritain Limited. These Terms govern your use of the Salaryon mobile app (the "App") and our website salaryon.com (the "Website"), together the "Service".
By downloading, accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Disclaimer. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, their standard licensing terms also apply, and these Terms supplement them.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use the Service. By using the Service you confirm that you meet these requirements.
3. What Salaryon is
Salaryon provides calculators, planning tools, insights and educational content to help UK users understand matters such as take-home pay, tax, National Insurance, pensions, budgeting and personal wealth. The tools apply publicly available rules, rates and thresholds to figures you enter.
Salaryon is an information and organisation tool. It does not provide personal financial, tax, investment, accounting or legal advice, and does not recommend any product. See section 10 and our Disclaimer.
You remain responsible for the information you enter into the Service. Salaryon works from the figures you give it and cannot tell whether they are accurate or complete.
4. Your account
You need an account to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@salaryon.com if you suspect unauthorised use. You may delete your account at any time in the App (Account → Delete account).
5. Free and Premium; subscriptions
Salaryon offers a free tier and a paid "Premium" subscription that unlocks additional features.
Plans and prices
- Premium Monthly: £8.99 per month.
- Premium Annual: £69.99 per year.
Prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable. Prices shown in the App at the point of purchase are definitive and may vary by region and over time.
Free trial
We offer a 14-day free trial of Premium to eligible new subscribers. Trial eligibility is determined by Apple or Google, not by us. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and you will be charged the applicable price. Only one trial may be available per Apple ID or Google Play account.
Billing, auto-renewal and cancellation
- Subscriptions are sold as in-app purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and are billed to your store account.
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- You manage and cancel your subscription through your App Store or Google Play account settings, not within Salaryon, and we cannot cancel it for you. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We do not process payments and generally cannot issue refunds directly.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. Where required, the store will notify you and, for increases, seek your consent before renewal. Changes do not affect the period you have already paid for.
Promotional and complimentary access
We may grant complimentary or promotional Premium access (for example to beta testers or contributors). Such access is provided at our discretion, is not a paid subscription, does not auto-renew into a charge, and may end or change. When it ends you move to the free tier.
Cloud Backup is free
Cloud Backup is free for every account and is not part of a Premium subscription. It is optional and off by default, and you can switch it off or delete the cloud copy at any time (see our Privacy Policy). Switching it off does not affect your subscription or what you are charged, and switching it on does not cost anything.
Cloud Backup keeps a copy of your data that you can restore onto a device. It is not a sync feature: your devices are not kept in step with each other, and a change made on one device will not appear on another until you back up and then restore. Restoring replaces the Salaryon data on that device with the backup, so we ask you to confirm before it happens.
If Premium ends
If your Premium access ends, we do not delete your data. Premium features become unavailable until you resubscribe, but your information is retained.
6. Your statutory rights (consumers)
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Premium subscriptions are purchased from and billed by Apple or Google as the seller of record; any cancellation, cooling-off or refund rights in respect of that purchase are dealt with under the applicable App Store or Google Play terms and policies.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service unlawfully or for any fraudulent or harmful purpose;
- copy, resell, reverse-engineer, scrape or attempt to extract our source code, data or content except as permitted by law;
- interfere with, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its systems or other users' data;
- circumvent, disable or interfere with subscription, entitlement or security features;
- misrepresent the Service's outputs as professional advice from us.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, content, branding and the "Salaryon" name and logo, is owned by or licensed to Gritain Limited and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
9. Your data and content
You retain ownership of the figures and content you enter. You grant us the limited licence needed to store, process and display that content to provide the Service to you. How we handle personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers
Salaryon provides general information and tools, not advice. It does not provide regulated financial advice or personal recommendations. Salaryon calculates using the rules, rates and assumptions available to it and takes reasonable care to keep them current; results are estimates that may differ from your actual position due to incomplete inputs, employer payroll practice, scheme-specific rules, legislative change or rounding. You should verify important figures against official sources (such as HMRC and gov.uk) and seek advice from a qualified professional before making decisions. To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or always available.
11. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law (including your statutory consumer rights).
Subject to that:
- we provide the Service with reasonable care and skill, but its calculations, insights and figures are estimates based on the information you provide and publicly available rules; you remain responsible for checking important figures and for the decisions you make;
- to the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, income, savings or opportunity, arising from your use of the Service;
- to the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims connected with the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £50 or the amount you paid (through the applicable app store) for the Service in that period.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, or if we reasonably need to for legal, security or operational reasons. If we withdraw the Service, we will give reasonable notice where we can. Terms which by their nature should survive termination (including sections 8, 9, 10, 11 and 14) continue to apply.
13. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms here and change the "Last updated" date; for significant changes we will provide more prominent notice. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you live elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings in your local courts, and nothing affects your rights as a consumer to rely on mandatory local law.
